Sammanthurai (SLIATE) was established under the Ministry of Higher Education.Under the administration of SLIATE new courses commenced at Sammanthurai Advanced Technological Institute such as Higher National Diploma in Information Technology in 2007, Higher National Diploma in English (Fultime) in 2007, Higher National Diploma in English (Part time) in 2008, Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (full time) in 2009, Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (Part time).
